Our Mission

The Watertown Community Foundation (WCF) is a 501(c)(3) public foundation that works to build and sustain a vibrant, close-knit community in Watertown, Massachusetts — now and for future generations.

An Affirmation of our Mission

The Watertown community thrives because we are home to a remarkable diversity of cultures, heritages, and languages, each contributing to the strength and richness of our city.

Here at the Watertown Community Foundation our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is at the center of all of our efforts. We actively stand for equality for all. We stand against racism in all its forms. We commit to learn, to reach out, to look inside ourselves, and to support all our community members regardless of race, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other factor.

We will continue to work in partnership with and to provide essential funding for our community partners who are directly addressing the issues most affecting our communities of color and other underrepresented groups. We will seek out any new organizations or voices not yet heard or represented.

We are committed to make lasting change; to make Watertown a vibrant, close-knit community for all. Now and for future generations.

Watertown Community Foundation:

Here for all. Here for good.

To accomplish this mission, WCF:

  • Raises funds from individuals, families, foundations and businesses,

  • Awards grants to non-profit organizations and community projects serving Watertown,

  • Builds networks of donors, grantees, program participants and stakeholders.

WCF and its grantees are consistent leaders:

  • Advancing education and health,

  • Supporting the most vulnerable,

  • Protecting the environment,

  • Encouraging creativity and the arts,

  • Fostering community engagement and leadership.

Practice

WCF offers everyone — individual donors, families and businesses — effective ways to give back to the community.

The Foundation raises funds from individuals and institutions to address local needs and make positive change through grant-making to Watertown’s non-profit organizations.

With the merger with the Watertown Educational Foundation in 2018, the Foundation has awarded more than $3,000,000 in grants to organizations that serve the people and families who live and work in Watertown.
